The 'Cat in Vegetables' was one of the first tromp l'œils that I painted. Using oils gave a rich tone, while the underlying gesso acts as an undercoat, protecting the wall.
It was interesting to watch people try to move or touch the red string that extended as far down as the door handle, only to find it was part of the painting.
Acrylic paint has been used for all other murals shown here. It lends itself to bold, bright designs, with added effects via the use of texture gels and specialist paints.
